Call for projects (September 2024 â June 2025)
Topic
The concert season 2024/25 of Neue Musik in St. Ruprecht is dedicated to
false stability | false fragility
We are looking for projects that examine and/or illuminate the (mis)conceptions and (mis)representati- ons of fragility and stability.
The Neue Musik in St. Ruprecht concert series is a place for presenting âperipheralâ music of Austrian and international provenance. Acoustic concerts as well as electronic music forms that honor the acoustic setting are desired. Special attention goes to premieres and music that is conceptualized specifically for the concert series of Neue Musik in St. Ruprecht and that is compatible to the contents of the manifesto (http://nmr.klingt.org/en/manifest-2).
Programs presenting real time music respectively music of the 21st century only are favored.
Submission categories
-) Concert / performance: bands, ensembles, soloists with a finished or fully planed program with a thematic reference. All genres of contemporary music and transdisciplinary projects are welcome (compositions, improvisations, electronics, drone, etc.).
-) AiR – Artists in Residence: Composers and existing ensembles can apply for âAiRâ – Artists in Residence. Two composers and one ensemble will be selected from the applications. As part of a concert evening, the two new works will be premiered by the ensemble and juxtaposed with the ensemble’s selected contemporary repertoire. Submission is only possible for existing ensembles.
Technical possibilities
The Ruprechtskirche is a sacral building with the acoustics that come with such buildings.
We have a stereo PA system with a 12 channel mixer (but no subwoofer) are not available. Lighting (except for hall lights) is not available at the church. Additionally required equipment has to be rented, which has to be taken into account for the budget of the concert. You can ask the team of the Neue Musik in St. Ruprecht for suppliers and for an estimation of the costs.
Generally speaking, concerts with stereo PA but also multi-channel pieces that use the whole space are possible.
Important: There is no organ available in the church, only a (mostly untuned and untuneable) upright piano.
Financial matters
The budget for each concert depends on fundings and sponsoring and is not fully assured at the time of this call. We would like to point out that for this reason the chances of realization are typically higher for projects with modest costs and realistic calculations. As a principle, the concert series is more suitable for smaller line-ups.
Deadline
